PROJECT SAFETY NETS

Implementing Permanent Safety Nets for a Safer Panangangara GUP School Ground.

About the Project

Vision for a Safer GUP Ground

Project "Safety Nets" is a major initiative by Yuvadhara Panangangara aiming to implement permanent, high-quality safety netting around the GUP School ground in Panangangara. The primary focus is to install these nets above the existing compound walls, creating a robust barrier against stray footballs.

  • Location: GUP School Ground, Panangangara (adjacent to National Highway).
  • Objective: Install permanent safety nets 5 meters high above compound walls.
  • Structure: Durable high-quality netting supported by robust Galvanized Iron (GI) pipe structures.

Problem Statement & Critical Objectives

Currently, the existing compound walls around the school ground are insufficient to contain footballs during regular sports activities. This leads to frequent, dangerous, and disruptive issues that Project Safety Nets aims to eliminate.

  • Highway Trespassing: Stray footballs constantly fly over the wall and onto the adjacent busy National Highway, creating significant risks of serious traffic accidents and endangering motorists and pedestrians.
  • Property Damage: Footalls frequently land in nearby residential properties, causing repeated damage to windows, roofing, vehicles, and gardens, strained community relations.
  • Disrupted Activities: Sports sessions are continuously interrupted to retrieve balls, dampening enthusiasm and hindering consistent sports development at the school.

Key Benefits & Anticipated Impact

Enhanced Public Safety

Eliminates the danger of stray footballs on the National Highway, ensuring the safety of countless motorists and pedestrians daily.

Reduced Property Damage

Protects the homes and vehicles of nearby residents from accidental damage, fostering harmonious community relationships.

Uninterrupted Sports

Allows school students and community members to play freely, boosting consistent sports participation and talent development.

Implementation & Funding

Proposed Implementation Plan

Project Safety Nets is designed for robust and sustainable implementation. The key aspects include:

  • Technical Spec: 5-meter high durable netting material (e.g., UV-stabilized HDPE) secured to sturdy GI pipe structures anchored to existing compound walls.
  • Estimated Cost: The total project proposal amount is approximately 5 Lakhs.
  • Primary Funding: The proposal is submitted for implementation via the Block Panchayath, with a budget allocation of 5 Lakhs.
  • Coordination: If the implementation cost exceeds the allocated Block Panchayath budget, Yuvadhara will proactively coordinate with the Grama Panchayath for the completion amount, ensuring the project is successfully finalized.
Project Status: Proposal Request Submitted

The formal letter requesting the implementation of Project Safety Nets has been officially handed over to the concerned member of the Block Panchayath for consideration and approval.
