Project Floodlight

Transforming GUPS Ground Panangangara into a Modern Sports Hub

Executive Summary

This project involves the installation of a modern LED floodlighting system at the GUPS School Ground, Panangangara. Our goal is to create a multi-purpose facility for evening sports and community training, utilizing high-efficiency 150W LED luminaires and a strategic 6-pole layout.

Project Objectives

Enhanced Safety

Providing clear visibility to prevent injuries during night use.

Community Utility

Enabling the local community to use the ground after sunset.

Energy Efficiency

Reducing costs via advanced LED technology.

Durability

Installing weather-resistant hardware for our local climate.

Lighting Standards (EN 12193)

Following the European Standard EN 12193, this project is designed to meet Class III requirements for recreational and training use. This ensures high-quality illumination specifically tailored for local club matches and small-scale community events.

Class Luminance Uniformity Ra (Color Rendering)
III (Recreational) 75lx 0.5 20
*Specifications based on EN12193 Class III requirements.

Technical Specifications

  • System: 6 High-tensile steel poles
  • Luminaires: 18 x 150W LED Flood Lights
  • Total Power: 2,700 Watts (2.7 kW)
  • Color Temp: 5000K - 5700K (Daylight)
  • Protection: IP66 (Water & Dust Proof)

Strategic 6-Pole Layout

The system utilizes a professional 6-pole configuration with three poles along each touchline[cite: 82, 83]. This layout is designed to project light from multiple angles, effectively eliminating blind spots and shadows in the center of the pitch.

Pitch Layout Design

3 units per pole allow for precise "aiming angles" to cover the near, center, and far side of the field.

Implementation & Long-term Benefits

Execution Plan

  1. Site Survey: Finalizing foundation points.
  2. Civil Works: Concrete casting for six poles.
  3. Installation: Pole erection and internal wiring.
  4. Commissioning: Night-time light leveling and final testing.

System Advantages

  • ✓ Low Maintenance: Lifespan of over 50,000 hours.
  • ✓ Instant Operation: No warm-up time required.
  • ✓ Structural Safety: Compact lights reduce wind resistance on poles.
  • ✓ Glare Control: Asymmetric optics protect neighboring residential areas.
